The Turbine Hot Blade Life Estimation and Revitalization Project

Hot turbine parts are one of the most valuable and sensitive parts in gas turbines. These parts work in harsh working conditions and high temperature and are exposed to several destructive mechanisms. Therefore, it is very important to determine the remaining life of the mentioned parts and the possibility of reusing them from an economic point of view. During this project, the estimation of the remaining life of the moving blades of the first, second and third rows of the SGT-600 gas turbine made of IN792 nickel base superalloy was investigated. In order to estimate the remaining life, based on the information related to the exploitation history of the parts, structural and mechanical checks were carried out on the sample prepared from the critical area of the moving blades, as a result of which, after the process of removing the coating, rebuilding and applying the coating again , the vanes were cycled for another 20,000 hours.
